What is Acne?

Acne is a condition that is common in all age groups, particularly adolescents. Acne has several related factors. Most commonly, acne occurs when follicles become clogged with sebum, which traps bacteria and triggers a white blood cell response that results in redness, swelling and the formation of pustules. Other factors that can also contribute to the development of acne include:

  • Hormonal Fluctuations
  • Genetics
  • Stress and Psychological Factors
  • Exercising/Working Out
  • Cosmetics
  • Medication
